CBD oil is everywhere. You can find it in retail stores, online and even at your neighborhood juice bar in twellness “shots” and smoothies.

The 2018 Farm BIll, signed into effect in December 2018, made CBD production legal as well as cheaper. There are SO many CBD oil products on the market and the industry is going to continue to boom. The CBD market is expected to multiply at least sevenfold by 2021 to $2.15 billion, according to the Brightfield Group, a market research firm that specializes in cannabis. Even Coca-Cola is “closely watching” the  in CBD and its potential as an ingredient in some of the company’s beverages.

The list of benefits to taking CBD oil goes on and on and ranges from alleviating inflammation and pain to reducing anxiety and depression, and I believe we have just scratched the surface of what it can do!

It can be overwhelming to choose a CBD oil product, however. With the industry still so new, it’s really important to do your research and make sure you’re not wasting your money.

Here are some of the qualities you should look for when choosing a CBD oil:

Water Soluble

Simply put, “water soluble” means “able to be dissolved in water.” If CBD is water soluble, it can be more easily absorbed by the body. Think about it: oil and water don’t mix. This makes it a difficult for your body to fully absorb CBD when ingested in oil form. Water soluble CBD oil works the most effectively.

Full Spectrum

Full spectrum oils contain the essence of the entire plant rather than isolated ingredients. Scientists believe that the additional cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that are in the original plant work together and ultimately magnify the effects of the others.

Concentration of CBD oil

CBD oil is similar to other products in that it is capable of being “watered down.” It’s important to pay attention to the concentration level of the CBD oil you’re buying in order to ensure you’re getting what you’re paying for. Although concentrations of CBD can vary quite a bit across the broad range of CBD products, a quality product will start off having somewhere between 250mg to 1,000mg per fluid ounce.

Quality Extraction Process

There are various ways in which CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant to create CBD oils, and not all these methods are created equal when it comes to the final product’s purity and quality. Some companies that cut corners and produce cheap CBD products may use harmful solvents such as propane or butane to render their extracts. Although these products are often less expensive, they aren’t worth it because they ultimately cancel out the amazing health benefits of CBD oil?

THC Content

To be considered hemp (and to be legal in states where marijuana is not legal), the plant and therefore the CBD must contain less than .03% THC (the compound that makes you feel “high”). While THC has some health benefits and while trace amounts should have no psychoactive effect, some people prefer no THC at all. Most CBD brands offer a choice between no THC and .03% THC. The benefits of CBD with less than 0.03% THC include no failed drug tests and no fear of mind-altering effects.
